The Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship (SVMCM) is one of the most important schemes of the West Bengal Government. It helps meritorious students from financially weaker backgrounds to continue higher studies in schools, colleges and universities.
For many months, students were worried because the scholarship money was not reaching their bank accounts on time. Now, finally, there is good news! Bikash Bhawan has released a new notice regarding fund processing.
Fund Processing Started: Notice to Institutions
According to today’s notice, all Heads of Institutions (HOIs) have been instructed to send student details in a proper format. Based on this, the scholarship amount will be processed and deposited in students’ bank accounts.
Attention to all Head of the Institutions: Each HOI is requested to send the Excel Sheet (intermittently-7 days inetrval), comprising of the SVMCMS applicants details(to be verified from HOI's login report part) along with HOI declaration. Scholarship fund will be processed accordingly. Please login and follow the instructions provided in the portal.Main points from the notice:
- Each HOI (Head of Institution) must send an Excel Sheet every 7 days.
- This Excel must contain details of SVMCM applicants, verified from the HOI Login Report Section.
- The HOI has to submit a Declaration confirming that the information is correct.
- After this, the scholarship fund will be processed and transferred to students’ bank accounts.
This means, students who already applied but did not get money till now will soon receive their scholarship.

When Will Students Get the Money?
- If institutions (school/college/university) send details quickly, there will be no delay.
- Money will be credited through Direct Bank Transfer (DBT).
- Students must ensure their Bank Account is active and Aadhaar is linked.
Other Important Updates
Aadhaar Verification: Aadhaar must be linked correctly with bank account.
Bank Account Update: Fresh or Renewal students must have an active bank account.
So, the speed of payment depends on how fast the HOI sends student details to the Higher Education Department.
